A quick note from Medellin

It’s late and it’s been another long day, but I couldn’t go to bed with a short update. I have to be up at 0500 tomorrow as we fly from here to Bogota, then on to Argentina, so this has to be quick.
Seeing the great work being done in Quito was moving, and there are so many ways we can help expand that work. I want to share much more about that possibility.
During our two days in Cali and also here in Medellin, however, I have been deeply touched by the faithfulness of the churches we have visited and the deep commitment to the poor shown by all the pastors with which we have met.
Everyone with whom we have visited understands that the church has a special mandate to help those in need. They see it as a responsibility as vital and as important as spreading the gospel. In fact, they see it as a critical facet of spreading the gospel.
What has impacted me is watching churches, too poor and too small to even have their own building, struggle over how to minister more effectively to the poor street children in their community.
Again, there are powerful opportunities here to help change hundreds and even thousands of lives. The need is so great, and it takes so little to make a difference.
There will be more to come when I again have internet access and even a moment to write.
