Today is the official birthday of the United States Marine Corps. We are now 244 years old and still one of the world’s elite fighting forces. My four years in the Marine Corps provided the foundation for all the success I have achieved. I am proud the claim the title of Marine. and will until I die.

At the time it was written, civilian arms and ammunition were almost exactly the same as the arms used by the military. The major exception, of course, was artillery. The same is definitely not the case today.
The argument against assault weapons in the hands of civilians seems to fly in the face of Washington’s thoughts on the matter. How can a free people maintain their independence from a government using assault weapons if the citizens are not allowed to possess weapons of equal power?
