“maybe, just maybe”

Regardless of one’s political persuasion, this has to make sense. Bernie Sanders is right on this one.

The United States definitely has a critical role to play in the Middle East, but it is past time for Saudi Arabia and other pro-democracy countries in that region to start demonstrating their leadership (and their commitment) in the war against ISIS.

a better distribution of wealth

I am not sure about democratic socialism. The sound of that is enough to cause me pause. History has taught us that socialism is a term and political system we all must fear.

But, I have no problem agreeing with both Dr. King and the Honorable Mr. Sanders. They are absolutely correct in calling for a better distribution of wealth for all of God’s children.

Income inequality in our country continues to grow, and the ever-widening chasm between the obscenely rich and the desperately poor is the most dangerous divide our nation faces. This is a clear and present danger that is actually far more frightening than the term socialism.

I agree with Bernie Sanders on this point. Do you?

Education needs to be accessible to all. Education is critical for the poor climb out of poverty.

Providing a good education is one of the most powerful tools we have to end hunger in our lifetime.  And this is as true in the US as it is anywhere else in the world.

The measure of a society is how their children are treated. We allow a fifth of our children to suffer the ravages of poverty.

Our values are badly skewed, and show the effects of a superficial and spurious spirituality. We should be deeply ashamed; ashamed enough to do something about it.

is it greed or just stupidity?

It’s not about politics. It’s about basic morality. It’s about treating others as we would want to be treated. It’s about the “Haves” turning their backs on the “have-nots.” It’s about right and wrong.
