#BLOTUS: a well-marked prince

...and he's only a snake oil salesman at that, so what are we waiting for??

As Mueller’s investigation draws ever closer to the #BLOTUS, these powerful words from our Declaration of Independence ring more true than ever before. The majority of the thinking world understands that the man is unfit for any role in civil society, much less  being the ruler of the United States.

The sooner #BLOTUS is legally removed from office, the sooner we can begin rebuilding our nation’s reputation again. I know what I would like for Christmas, and since I am not picky, I have two options. Impeachment proceedings is my first choice. My second is a letter of resignation.

The criminal trial and conviction for treason would just be a big bonus, as well as a salute to justice.

a frightening poll for followers of Jesus

This Washington Post-ABC News Poll from last October should strike fear into the hearts of those who are disciples of the Man from Nazareth. White evangelical Christians were the biggest believers that the #BLOTUS had a strong moral character. White non-evangelical Christians were not far behind.

What that reveals about white Christians, especially evangelicals, should start alarm bells ringing in every church in the country. If those who most deeply profess to follow Jesus actually think Trump has a strong moral character, it means that they have absolutely no clue as to who Jesus is or what He taught.

The poll does, however, give us a good indication of why the church no longer has the authority and moral leadership it once had. White Protestants need to once again figure out that faithfulness to the gospel of Jesus is not the same as blind patriotism, love of country, or love of power.

The most interesting statistic was that those who professed no religion seemed to have the best understanding of the lack of moral character of the #BLOTUS. Is that possibly because their understanding of morality isn’t filtered through the lens of religion?

our knowledge is begging to be used

We already know too much about the #BLOTUS. We all know his history, his character, and his self-absorbed lifestyle of greed, bigotry and selfishness. We also know of his inability to properly lead our nation. We know his complain disdain for our laws and his continuing practice of bending them, breaking them, and completely ignoring them. We know he is a pathological liar. We all know he is unfit to hold the office of president of the United States.

But, knowledge is of no value unless we put it into practice. Chekhov is right on this point. Why, then, hasn’t the #BLOTUS already been impeached?

Non Christians Grasp Moral Values better than Christians

These poll results, from October 2016 are disturbing as they are frightening. They do, however, explain a great deal.

Those voters claiming no religion clearly understand the lack of moral values on display by #BLOTUS. What is so alarming about this is that White Christians all feel much more strongly that this man has a strong moral character.

When non Christians can see the lack of moral character in #BLOTUS while Christians cannot, it is a strong indictment on our lack of teaching in the Church. Somehow we have not been taught  true Gospel values. Either that, or the Church has completely sold out to society.

Actually, both are probably true. We have allowed ourselves to be blinded to the ugly reality of society so flagrantly demonstrated by #BLOTUS. The racism, the hatred, the bullying, the bigotry, the nepotism, the greed, the lying are no longer seen as moral character flaws, but are even admired.

There’s a vast chasm between faithfulness to the Gospel and blind patriotism. It saddens me that the majority of those attending Church this morning cannot see that. Their unwavering support of a liar who consistently lives so contrary to the values taught by Jesus proves they are blind to reality.

I’m with her

Thank you, Sally Yates for doing the right thing in the right way at the right time. All patriotic citizens of the United States owe you a debt of gratitude.

You took immediate action to uphold the traditional values of the United States. Your action in defiance of #BLOTUS was a true demonstration of faithfully defending equality and freedom. I applaud your strength of character, and commend you for defending the Constitution.

May we all be inspired by this courageous lady who has acted in the best tradition of our nation. And may we all follow her example in standing up against the unbridled bigotry and continuing attacks against our Constitution. United we stand.

the wages of sin

I have blogged about the 7 deadly sins before. However, I felt the time was right for a gentle reminder.

These words of Gandhi are especially meaningful at this point in our country’s history. We are fully embracing and living out all 7 of these deadly sins, and there’s a terrible price to be paid.

The consequences for our nation are already being felt, and they will only get worse. We continue to create a dark future for ourselves and our children. And the price grows ever higher.

The wages of sin don’t go down…and there’s no defaulting on the payments.
