Authentic spirituality has little or nothing to do with what we profess to believe. It, however, has everything to do with how we live our daily lives and how we treat the least of these among us.

I am confused by the absolute silence of the pro-life movement concerning the inhumane treatment of infants and children being held in cages on our Southern border. Why are they not expressing their outrage of ripping children away from their parents and family members and caging them in concentration camp like conditions?

Pro-birth does not equate to pro-life. When the pro-lifers remain silent as they watch young children being treated worse than stray dogs and cats it tells me all I need to know about their morality and humanity.

As sad as this seems to be, it is actually worse. Today there would be those in the crowd who would be heckling Jesus and accusing him of socialism, pandering to the poor for votes, and questioning both his ethics and his motives.

And the saddest part is that much (if not most) of this criticism would be coming from those claiming to follow him…right wing evangelicals.
