a short quiz

The #BLOTUS is more than a national embarrassment, or a national disgrace. He is a shameful example of the lowest elements of our society. There’s no need to wonder why our nation is no longer seen as a leader of the free world.

#BLOTUS: a one-man crisis

I can not remember any presidency in my seventy years that has been so dysfunctional, and such a total embarrassment to our country. What other of our nation’s leaders has been so unable to tell the truth? bragged about being able get away with murder? laughed about being a sexual predator? completed ignored the Constitution? wasted so much on vacations so fast? continually attacked the press? could not stop whining?

The real story isn’t the leaks. The real story is that the #BLOTUS is a one-man rolling crisis.  He is frighteningly dangerous to the health, well being, and future of our nation. He is causing great concern, even alarm among our allies and has made the United States a laughingstock around the world.

And the backstory is even worse. His appeal to the lowest common denominator points out the serious, even fatal flaws in our society. Those supporting him are so wedded to his bigotry and clearly racist agenda that they are willing to ignore the truth.

The real story is that this president is a total disaster.

birds of a feather…

Do you know who else discredited the media? lenin, Stalin,Hitler,Mussolini, Castro,Mao, Idi Amin, Pol Pot, Hussein, Assad, Putin, ISIS, Boko Haram #Trumpocalypse:

We are known by the company we keep. At least that’s what my mom always told me.

This morning, I just saw Russian agents meeting with the #BLOTUS in the White House. This is one day after firing the head of the FBI who was investigating his treasonous ties to Russia. From the photos I could not tell who had the biggest smiles. The #BLOTUS was definitely enjoying hosting his friends.

What is blatantly obvious, however, is that the current leader of our nation is far more comfortable with dictators, thugs, and strongmen than he is with the rule of law and the dictates of the Constitution.

The #BLOTUS covets absolute power. Anyone with the courage to challenge that power will be eliminated. FBI Director Comey wasn’t the first to feel his ire, and sadly will not be the last.

I’m with her

Thank you, Sally Yates for doing the right thing in the right way at the right time. All patriotic citizens of the United States owe you a debt of gratitude.

You took immediate action to uphold the traditional values of the United States. Your action in defiance of #BLOTUS was a true demonstration of faithfully defending equality and freedom. I applaud your strength of character, and commend you for defending the Constitution.

May we all be inspired by this courageous lady who has acted in the best tradition of our nation. And may we all follow her example in standing up against the unbridled bigotry and continuing attacks against our Constitution. United we stand.

listen! it’s time to speak out

Not technically a founding father but a great president. Abraham Lincoln~ "We the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the Courts, not to overthrow the Constitution but to overthrow the men who would pervert the Constitution.":

As the events of the past couple of weeks have unfolded, many of us have been almost paralyzed in the face of such a brazen and blatant attack on the true values of our nation. Now is the time we need to again hear these powerful words of warning from President Abraham Lincoln.

We have a responsibly to protect the Constitution. We must speak out and step up when we see Congress, the Courts, or the President perverting this document. And at this moment the Constitution, and the values it holds forth, are both being attacked and perverted by #BLOTUS and those he has appointed.

We need to protect the Constitution. The responsibility is ours.

nothing Christian in Xenophobia

Normally, I do not think too highly of resolutions and statements issued by boards and other legislative bodies. Words are cheap. I am much more impressed with action.  However,I applaud this statement by the World Methodist Council.

I have been in South Africa numerous times and have seen firsthand the violence brought about by irrational xenophobia. I also know and am proud to call Ivan Abrahams, and my friend. I have seen him struggle with this issue when he was Bishop of the Methodist Church of South Africa. He has a true heart for the oppressed, the refugee and the stranger in our midst. He is a man of faith and action.

I have also visited with refugees camped in Methodist Church sanctuaries in the heart of Johannesburg. I have heard their stories and felt their fear.

I have seen the anger and rage directed at these refugees. It is too often incited by those with hidden agendas and those whose motives should be held up for closer inspection. It is manufactured on fear and an appeal to nationalism.

Xenophobia is the fear of the stranger. There’s nothing Christian in such a response. Perfect love casts out fear.

In the wake of escalating violence against foreign nationals, refugees and asylum seekers in the Republic of South Africa, World Methodist Council representatives express concern and disappointment at these clear violations of human rights. General Secretary Ivan Abrahams and the Social Justice Committee of the World Methodist Council issued this joint statement today condemning the violence and attacks:The World Methodist Council condemns these attacks which so clearly undermine human rights and dignity. We applaud the actions of Methodist family members within the Republic of South Africa who have stood up against these human rights violations.  We also welcome the recent statements of President Zuma and senior government officials. We further support the marches and events held to bring awareness to take a stance against such atrocities. We pray that they are successful in continuing to promote initiatives toward peaceful coexistence. We implore the South African government to protect the rights of all people as enshrined in its Constitution. We further call on Methodists and Wesleyans within the neighboring countries of South Africa to stand in solidarity with and aid all those affected by these attacks. We are one human race. Let us all continue to pray and speak out against the injustices throughout our world.
