advancing to the rear

Not all leaders move us forward. Some use their position of power to destroy progress and global advances for their own personal gain. Some do it for spite. Others do it out of sheer ignorance. Some just do not understand the real world.

Some, like Secretary of State, Tillerson said, are just f*** ing morons. Others are just plain dotards. The guy currently in the Offal Office, the #BLOTUS, is moving our nation backward as fast he can, Sad, very sad, that our congressional leaders are not opposing his destruction of our great country.

the greatest enemy…

For all the Trump worshippers losing their damn minds when anyone dares criticize their orange god-emperor. What you're supporting is authoritarianism.:

Question everything…especially authority.

We now live in an age of fake news, consistent and uncontrollable lying from the highest office in the nation and supposedly intelligent political leaders opening denying the scientific claims and clear evidence of climate change. Blind belief in anything has become more dangerous than ever before.

We need to question everything, and that includes our own beliefs.  But, Einstein is absolutely correct. Blind belief in authority is the greatest enemy of the truth.

a lie is a lie…

For the past several months we have watched Presidential candidates tell lie after lie. Within hours we have seen these same candidates deny the lies, even when the lies have been recorded. I cannot be the only one that finds this frightening.

In a world of deceit and lies, telling the truth is an act of rebellion. We are approaching the time when we need such a revolution, a revolution where those of us who care band together to speak the truth, even if it means we have to pay a steep price.

The first steep is paying attention. We do not have to accept lies. We have the power to say no to leadership based on deceit. Wrong is wrong no matter how often we are told differently.

Pay attention. Refuse to be silent. Speak out for the truth. Facts are far more powerful than opinions. And evil cannot survive if we stand for the good.

acknowledging reality

Much has been made of President Obama’s recent statements  delivered in Florida. I am in the camp that believes the statements should have come much sooner, been far more forceful, and followed with stronger action.

It’s past time to acknowledge reality, accept the scientific data, and come to the realization that we are destroying this beautiful planet we call home. Ignoring the truth before our eyes cannot be excused, especially by those in leadership.

Many of our political leaders live inside a bubble of wealth and privilege, completely out of touch with reality. They are too blinded by greed and partisan politics to acknowledge the truth of climate change.

Shame on them. And shame on those who vote to keep them in office.

We need to openly address climate change and be honest enough to call a spade a spade.  The words “global warming” are not obscene. The real obscenity ignoring them and not acknowledging reality.

I applaud the President’s statements. Now, let’s see something more than just words.
