nepotism for dummies

For those who haven’t had the privilege of a great deal of global travel, nepotism at this scale is considered perfectly normal in most African states and other nations ruled by dictators, warlords and other corrupt leaders. What makes it noteworthy is that it is not the norm, and is even considered illegal in most democratic states. But, what else should we expect from the biggest #BLOTUS ever elected?

birds of a feather

Too bad Trump is not as smart as he thinks he is.

It’s not fake news that dictators and totalitarian leaders throughout history have recognized the need to silence those who tell the truth. An honest media always poses the biggest threat to those who would misuse power.

The first step in controlling that media is to discredit it. I find it fascinating that we never heard of fake news until we got a fake leader. Coincidence? I think not.

Who are we to believe? The Liar-in-Chief is pathologically unable to tell the truth and changes his story every other day in spite of video evidence to the contrary. On the other side is the free press.

As for me, I am sticking with, and standing up for a free press. Their credibility has stood the test of time, and a free press is our best defense available against scoundrels, thieves and dictators like all those listed above. And right now, we need the best defense we can get.

birds of a feather…

Do you know who else discredited the media? lenin, Stalin,Hitler,Mussolini, Castro,Mao, Idi Amin, Pol Pot, Hussein, Assad, Putin, ISIS, Boko Haram #Trumpocalypse:

We are known by the company we keep. At least that’s what my mom always told me.

This morning, I just saw Russian agents meeting with the #BLOTUS in the White House. This is one day after firing the head of the FBI who was investigating his treasonous ties to Russia. From the photos I could not tell who had the biggest smiles. The #BLOTUS was definitely enjoying hosting his friends.

What is blatantly obvious, however, is that the current leader of our nation is far more comfortable with dictators, thugs, and strongmen than he is with the rule of law and the dictates of the Constitution.

The #BLOTUS covets absolute power. Anyone with the courage to challenge that power will be eliminated. FBI Director Comey wasn’t the first to feel his ire, and sadly will not be the last.

a circus has to have monkeys

Machiavelli lived in the 15th century, but his methodology for determining the intelligence of a ruler is still valid today. Looking at the sycophants and henchmen around the #BLOTUS tells us a lot, not only concerning his intelligence, but his vision for our country.

The most frightening fact is that this incompetent whiner has intentionally surrounded himself with those whose vision for destroying democracy perfectly coincides with his. From Jeff Sessions to Betsy DeVos, his Cabinet is filled with those antagonistic to the very departments they supposedly lead.

The only picks that actually support the work of their department are those of the Department of Defense and other military postings. But then, this makes sense as all dictators want the strongest military they can afford. That’s what keeps them in power.

#BLOTUS cannot compromise. He cannot negotiate. He cannot get legislation passed. Actually, he would be happy to rule by divine decree.

The question I have, and that is rightfully being raised by many others, is where will the fascination and admiration that #BLOTUS has of the world’s worst dictators lead us? His desire to be a brutal strongman is obvious.  Is his vision for the US to transform our democracy into a Trumptatorship?

The very real and very frightening reality here is that this is our circus, and these are all our monkeys.

The Trump Way

This photo taken in Mumbai, India is worth far more than a thousand words. And it is extremely timely, as well.

On his very first full day in office BLOTUS began  with an egocentric presentation at the CIA Headquarters in Langley, Virginia attacking the press. It was his normal “more lies than truth” routine. At issue was the size of his smaller than average hands inauguration crowds. (Obviously, size does matter for our country’s new Liar-in-Chief)

Then, only hours later his press secretary gave a five minute press statement again attacking and denouncing the press while repeating the BLOTUS lies. Naturally, none of the press were allowed to ask questions.

The Trump Way is to lie about the lies he lied only hours or days earlier. He castigates the press because facts are not his friends.  I stand with the press. We must not give in to the bullying and intimidation of BLOTUS. We must not tolerate the “gaslighting.” We all must hold him accountable for ever lie he spews forth, large or small.

The Trump Way is the way of dictators and despots throughout history. But, it is not the American way. And it’s certainly not my way.
