Lest we forget, we were warned. And we were warned more than once.
The spectacle now unfolding, this reeking debacle of compounded incompetence, hubris, lies and blatant nepotism, is a shameful blot on the highest office in our land. What should be the most respected position in the free world is becoming a mixed-genre comedy/horror story.
Every chapter is more unbelievable than the last. And he ending is either going to have the entire world in stitches, rolling on the floor in relieved laughter, or in devastated ruins. But, we were warned, weren’t we?
These poll results, from October 2016 are disturbing as they are frightening. They do, however, explain a great deal.
Those voters claiming no religion clearly understand the lack of moral values on display by #BLOTUS. What is so alarming about this is that White Christians all feel much more strongly that this man has a strong moral character.
When non Christians can see the lack of moral character in #BLOTUS while Christians cannot, it is a strong indictment on our lack of teaching in the Church. Somehow we have not been taught true Gospel values. Either that, or the Church has completely sold out to society.
Actually, both are probably true. We have allowed ourselves to be blinded to the ugly reality of society so flagrantly demonstrated by #BLOTUS. The racism, the hatred, the bullying, the bigotry, the nepotism, the greed, the lying are no longer seen as moral character flaws, but are even admired.
There’s a vast chasm between faithfulness to the Gospel and blind patriotism. It saddens me that the majority of those attending Church this morning cannot see that. Their unwavering support of a liar who consistently lives so contrary to the values taught by Jesus proves they are blind to reality.
Matthew 25:43 “I was a stranger and you didn’t invite me in…”
BLOTUS has reiterated on numerous occasions that he is smarter than our military leaders and the intelligence community. He routinely skips intelligence briefs designed to prepare him for protecting and guiding our country.
Confronted with the facts of Russian interference in our election process, he makes excuses and blames the Democratic National Party. When any nation interferes with the internal workings of another it is grounds for a severe reprisal, even war. Instead, Trump plays down the hacking and just says it didn’t affect the outcome.
That is not the issue. The real issue is that Trump can not see beyond his ego. As George Little has written, BLOTUS is playing a truly dangerous game. And what is at stake is the safety and security of our nation.
It is difficult for me to comprehend how the values of our nation have apparently changed. We seem to have thrown away our moral compass and are intentionally fleeing from the responsibilities that have long demonstrated our greatness.
I totally agree that we need to make our nation great again. But endorsing the bullying, selfish, xenophobic, and racist values of the president elect moves us further from that goal. The values of BLOTUS are not the values that will make America (or any other nation) great again.
Have we really come to the place where we have decided hate is better than love? Do we really want to live in fear rather than caring for those most in need? What has happened to our sense of justice for all and compassion for those in trouble?
We definitely need to look into a mirror. We need a rude awaking to see what we are becoming. The United States doesn’t need a wall. We need a heart.
The President-Elect is seemingly ignorant that there is a record of his statements. His disdain for facts and the truth appears to be pathological. It is not difficult to understand why he is being called BLOTUS.
