I, being an official member of the older adult category, cannot let information such as this get away without a comment or two. This information isn’t new to me, but I feel it might be for some.
Having recently concluded three years as a pastor of an elderly congregation (average age of 83), I have seen this firsthand. It’s not a pretty picture.
All of us would do well to pay attention to the seniors in our lives. They are many small things we can do to help ease their struggles, but it starts with awareness.
Care and respect for the elderly among us is a tradition most of believe in, and rightfully so. What can you do to ease the hardship of an older friend or family member during this Christmas season?
Whenever those in power seek to secretly take away the benefits of over 22 million of our citizens they need to be held accountable. A plan so obviously flawed, so heavy weighted with huge tax breaks for the already obscenely rich, is not good for our nation.
Such a bill is definitely good in the eyes of the powerful and wealthy elite. But such a bill is morally repugnant, like those who crafted it and are trying to fast-track it through the Senate. Like their greed and their hubris, their shame has no limits.
This is why I continue to be amazed, confused, and just totally dismayed by the huge numbers of those professing to follow Jesus that actually voted for the #BLOTUS and still support him. Anyone who is seeking to demonstrate the love of Christ, cannot possibly think that this man reflects anything other than the complete and total repudiation of all that Christ is and that He teaches.
The values of Drumpf are not Christian values. The #BLOTUS does not demonstrate any of the values taught by Jesus. Those ignoring these facts need to seriously reflect on just how shallow their spirituality must be to defend and support such a man.
