treason from within

I doubt that Cicero was warning our nation about the #BLOTUS. But, I have to admit that this statesman knew what he was talking about, and it’s just as obvious that his words should be heeded by the wise of any age.

There is no doubt in my mind that Trump appeals to”the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men.” And one has only to look at his first few months in office to realize he works best in secret and at night.

The stench arising from the oval office continues to grow as the #BLOTUS rots the soul of our nation.  Truly, “a murderer is less to be feared.”

Yup! You could see it coming.

#BLOTUS takes the axe to anyone that gets too close to the truth. It’s a unbelievable abuse of power, a national disgrace and “a clear and present danger.” We need a special prosecutor now.

SNAFU

I served 4 years (1966-1970) in the Marine Corps. While in the Marines I learned a phrase that has stuck with me. Actually, I think all veterans are familiar with it as the phrase is common in all branches of the military.

The phrase is SNAFU. It is an acronym for Situation Normal All F&%#ed Up.

This is where our nation is headed under the #BLOTUS. We are heading for a huge and historically ugly SNAFU. And I, for one, don’t want this period to be normal for the United States. I don’t want my country to be characterized by the arrogance, greed, and pathological lying of one man.

We cannot allow this administration to be normalized. It isn’t who we are. And I hope it isn’t who we want to become.

Who do we trust for our safety?

The Scripture tells us that our safety does not come from military power. The Old Testament is full of the prophets telling the people not to trust the weapons of war to protect them. There’s a clear message that hoping to find security through the military is a dangerous and  false hope.

The Bible tells the people of faith that “our hope is in the name of our Lord, who made both heaven and earth.”  It’s a message we desperately need to hear and to heed today.

We have the largest military budget the world has ever seen. No other country, no other 12 countries, spend as much on national defense as the United States. This is not just wrong. In a world where we have 20,000 of our human family dying daily from hunger and malnutrition, spending this amount on military defense is both abhorrent and morally repugnant.

We can end hunger in the next 15 years according to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. But we will never do it wasting hundreds of billions of dollars on wasteful, unnecessary, and sinful military spending. It’s time to trust in the Lord.

#BLOTUS & the Law

The person now leading our nation has been in court over 3,000 times. Yet, he was still thought ethical enough and intelligent enough to lead our nation. That explains a lot, doesn’t it.

The majority just seems not to care about traditional American values like honesty, truthfulness, and caring for the other person. So now we have a egotistical braggart who lives by the lie doing his best to destroy our country.

The lies of #BLOTUS caught up with him enough so that he was taken to court over 3,000 times. Who will hold him accountable now?

We no longer have a president we can respect. We have a president we need to fear.

mirror, mirror, not the wall

It is difficult for me to comprehend how the values of our nation have apparently changed. We seem to have thrown away our moral compass and are intentionally fleeing from the responsibilities that have long demonstrated our greatness.

I totally agree that we need to make our nation great again. But endorsing the bullying, selfish, xenophobic, and racist values of the president elect moves us further from that goal. The values of BLOTUS are not the values that will make America (or any other nation) great again.

Have we really come to the place where we have decided hate is better than love? Do we really want to live in fear rather than caring for those most in need? What has happened to our sense of justice for all and compassion for those in trouble?

We definitely need to look into a mirror. We need a rude awaking to see what we are becoming. The United States doesn’t need a wall. We need a heart.
