in the eyes of the beholder

Trump

I fought to protect the right of my fellow citizens to have the freedom to demonstrate their beliefs. What might be disrespectful or offensive to me might be a deeply held belief for someone else. We have become far too sensitive to “slightly offensive behavior,” while totally ignoring and turning a blind eye to truly offensive actions that we need to speak out against.

there’s a difference

We owe a debt of gratitude to the journalists and reporters whose work is to make sure the truth is exposed and the public knows the facts. Too many have too much to hide. It’s the dedication and commitment to the truth that is the bedrock of our freedom.

a life-saving transfusion needed

There’s a huge difference between healthcare and wealthcare. We truly do not need more tax breaks for the wealthy of our nation, especially at the price of taking away medical care for those most at risk, Our democracy needs an immediate and life-saving transfusion of a 50/50 solution of justice and compassion.

living on the edge

I believe the entire universe was created for our joy. Yet, most of us live lives of fear and insecurity, preferring the cramped confines of our little boxes to the freedom of the unknown.

Life in all its fullness will never be found in a box.  Only when we have the courage and the audacity to escape the rigid prisons of our own design will we finally experience the glorious freedom for which we were created.

The path to true joy follows the edge. And that path can never be found while in the false comfort of a box, even one made of gold. Jump out of your boxes and into a creation waiting to grant you “joy unspeakable and full of glory.” You won’t regret it.

sound familiar?

History is proven to repeat itself. Pay attention and be brutally honest, does any of this sound familiar to you? Yes it does! So my fellow American, what are you going to do about it?:

Those who do not know history are doomed to repeat it. Least we forget, it only takes one match to start a conflagration that can burn through hundreds of thousands of acres of forest.

Less than 100 years ago the entire world was convulsed in one of the most terrible and costly wars in the history of the planet, all brought about by a megalomaniacal dictator who legally took the reigns of power in Germany.

Do not assume the same cannot happen again.

liberation theology

liberation theology:

What we do for others, we do for ourselves.

All of us are part of one human family. And we are all bound to our four-legged and winged family as well. In fact all living beings are connected on this beautiful planet we call home.

This coming year is a new opportunity to be aware of how all life is connected. It’s a new chance to live in gratitude and deep appreciation for the gifts we have been given. This new year is a time for us to ¬†save ourselves by saving each other as we all work together to save our planet.

on the road to hell

After just recently rereading 1984, I am struck by the timeliness of this statement by Orwell. All of us have heard the old saw that we have the government we deserve. Orwell states it even more directly.

In a democracy we have the ability to choose. We don’t have, however, the guarantee that we will necessarily choose wisely. None so blind as those that refuse to see. And most of our nation has become so afraid that they refuse to open their eyes. And a people that willingly swallows lies can never be set free by the truth.

We are not only on the road to hell, we are helping pave it as we go.
