#BLOTUS and his Flying Monkeys

Earlier this morning I read that Robert Mueller’s team has added over a dozen new attorneys to help dig deeper into the malfeasance and corruption at the heart of Trump’s circle. Now, the president’s personal lawyer, following the wise move of Vice President Pence, has hired another lawyer to represent him. When lawyers hire lawyers they know it is about to get real.

Trump is single-handedly attempting to kick-start the economy by providing more jobs for lawyers. I don’t care how many flying monkeys the #Blotus lets fly, the Hounds of Justice are coming after him, and he can feel them getting ever closer.

the lion’s share of care

Whenever those in power seek to secretly take away the benefits of over 22 million of our citizens they need to be held accountable. A plan so obviously flawed, so heavy weighted with huge tax breaks for the already obscenely rich, is not good for our nation.

Such a bill is definitely good in the eyes of the powerful and wealthy elite. But such a bill is morally repugnant, like those who crafted it and are trying to fast-track it through the Senate. Like their greed and their hubris, their shame has no limits.

longer tables!

This Facebook post is a perfect illustration of my philosophy. Life is not about hording and keeping what we have received. Life in all its fullness only comes through being open and generous. Caring, sharing and giving makes life worthwhile.

A truly thankful heart is one that wants others the enjoy the same gifts we have received. Sharing, even a meager crust, is far better than eating a banquet alone. We don’t need thicker walls and taller fences. We need longer tables.

fiddling while the world burns!

“If your house is on fire, you don’t comfort yourself with the thought that houses have been catching fire for thousands of years. You don’t sit idly back and think, ‘Oh well, that is the way of nature.’ You get going, immediately. And you don’t spring into action because of an idealistic notion that houses deserve to be saved. You do it because if you don’t, you won’t have a place to live.”
~Bill NyeUnstoppable: Harnessing Science to Change the World, 2015

We have a president that ignores and dismisses anything that is not profitable to himself in some way or another. His entire focus is power and wealth. But like most men wrapped up in themselves, he is a disgustingly small package.

At a time in history when climate change demands strong, determined action from global leaders, the #BLOTUS, thumbs his nose at science and turns his back on responsibility. He has bet the devil his fiddle of gold won’t melt in the fire. Then the little man paused, smirked, and said, ” to hell with the rest of them.”

could there be a greater difference?

This is why I continue to be amazed, confused, and just totally dismayed by the huge numbers of those professing to follow Jesus that actually voted for the #BLOTUS and still support him. Anyone who is seeking to demonstrate the love of Christ, cannot possibly think that this man reflects anything other than the complete and total repudiation of all that Christ is and that He teaches.

The values of Drumpf are not Christian values. The #BLOTUS does not demonstrate any of the values taught by Jesus. Those ignoring these facts need to seriously reflect on just how shallow their spirituality must be to defend and support such a man.

SNAFU

I served 4 years (1966-1970) in the Marine Corps. While in the Marines I learned a phrase that has stuck with me. Actually, I think all veterans are familiar with it as the phrase is common in all branches of the military.

The phrase is SNAFU. It is an acronym for Situation Normal All F&%#ed Up.

This is where our nation is headed under the #BLOTUS. We are heading for a huge and historically ugly SNAFU. And I, for one, don’t want this period to be normal for the United States. I don’t want my country to be characterized by the arrogance, greed, and pathological lying of one man.

We cannot allow this administration to be normalized. It isn’t who we are. And I hope it isn’t who we want to become.

get informed. get angry. get involved.

How can anyone support America paying tax subsidies or giving hand-outs to oil companies that pay ZERO taxes and NOT support subsidizing the poor, hungry people in America.:

How is it that we do not have the financial resources to provide relief for the most vulnerable among us, but we always have the means to subsidize our largest and most profitable corporations? The answer is not that difficult. In fact, it is fairly straightforward.

It’s about wealth and greed. It’s about what we value, and it’s about our political leaders feathering their own nests. It’s about not caring enough to get involved.

And when we continue to elect leaders who vote for allowing millions of our citizens to be stalked by hunger, we need to be honest with ourselves. We are complicit.
