get informed. get angry. get involved.

How can anyone support America paying tax subsidies or giving hand-outs to oil companies that pay ZERO taxes and NOT support subsidizing the poor, hungry people in America.:

How is it that we do not have the financial resources to provide relief for the most vulnerable among us, but we always have the means to subsidize our largest and most profitable corporations? The answer is not that difficult. In fact, it is fairly straightforward.

It’s about wealth and greed. It’s about what we value, and it’s about our political leaders feathering their own nests. It’s about not caring enough to get involved.

And when we continue to elect leaders who vote for allowing millions of our citizens to be stalked by hunger, we need to be honest with ourselves. We are complicit.

when lady liberty goes under

We all know that climate change cannot be real, right? It’s all just another scare tactic cooked up by progressives to keep honest business folks from making a decent profit.

And doesn’t the “good book” tell us that God created MAN to have control over the earth? That means (according to the #BLOTUS), that we can grab whatever we want. Finally, we finally have a leader who can demonstrate the good life.

our knowledge is begging to be used

We already know too much about the #BLOTUS. We all know his history, his character, and his self-absorbed lifestyle of greed, bigotry and selfishness. We also know of his inability to properly lead our nation. We know his complain disdain for our laws and his continuing practice of bending them, breaking them, and completely ignoring them. We know he is a pathological liar. We all know he is unfit to hold the office of president of the United States.

But, knowledge is of no value unless we put it into practice. Chekhov is right on this point. Why, then, hasn’t the #BLOTUS already been impeached?

Non Christians Grasp Moral Values better than Christians

These poll results, from October 2016 are disturbing as they are frightening. They do, however, explain a great deal.

Those voters claiming no religion clearly understand the lack of moral values on display by #BLOTUS. What is so alarming about this is that White Christians all feel much more strongly that this man has a strong moral character.

When non Christians can see the lack of moral character in #BLOTUS while Christians cannot, it is a strong indictment on our lack of teaching in the Church. Somehow we have not been taught  true Gospel values. Either that, or the Church has completely sold out to society.

Actually, both are probably true. We have allowed ourselves to be blinded to the ugly reality of society so flagrantly demonstrated by #BLOTUS. The racism, the hatred, the bullying, the bigotry, the nepotism, the greed, the lying are no longer seen as moral character flaws, but are even admired.

There’s a vast chasm between faithfulness to the Gospel and blind patriotism. It saddens me that the majority of those attending Church this morning cannot see that. Their unwavering support of a liar who consistently lives so contrary to the values taught by Jesus proves they are blind to reality.

new national values

President Carter nailed it with this comment. And as the recent Presidential election has so clearly demonstrated, most of us do not care about Christian values. We voted our fear instead of our faith. We put our faith in change rather than in love.

The man we have chosen for president does not reflect the values of Jesus Christ. I do not care about parties, tags, or even promises. But, I do care about a visible, historical record of lying, greed, fraud, hatred, vengeance, bullying, racism and a serious lack of self control.

I (and the entire world) have witnessed all of those in our president-elect. It’s the way he lives. It’s his lifestyle. What I haven’t seen is love, caring, compassion, joy and a desire for justice.  We have elected a leader that reflects the opposite of Christian values.

Electing Donald Trump as our next president is a clear statement of our new national values. And they are anything but Christian.

truly offensive

A brief, yet powerful sermon we all need to heed. Having just returned from a trip that included both India and Nicaragua, this resonates with me more than ever. We all need to stop being so sensitive to personal affronts and far more sensitive to the real pain, greed, and injustice that fills the world.

We live in a world infected by a viral consumerism that threatens our very survival. Here is a powerful antidote.

Less is more. Believe it. More stuff is not the answer.

True joy is not, and can never be, measured in larger bank accounts or the things that money can buy. True joy, comes from loving, giving and serving. True wealth is measured in caring and sharing.
