Migrant Child Detention – WWJD

CagesWeb.jpg

Both the Jewish and the Christian faiths makes it clear that we are to welcome the stranger, and provide special care for the weak among us. The current polices of intentionally splitting up families, especially of those seeking asylum in our country, are profoundly wrong.

Regardless of the purpose of such policies, ripping children away from their parents and detaining them in mass incarceration centers cannot be justified. Where is the outrage from people of faith at such intentional trauma to innocents?

Far too much of evangelical Christianity has become a cult of blind praise and support of the current president’s golden calf racist policies. It is time to again ask WWJD. It certainly would not be to split children from their mothers and put them into kennels.

what we truly need

And it still needs to be said in 2016.

These words by Bobby Kennedy we true when he spoke them in 1968.  Today, over 50 years later, they still resonate. Truth is a light that shines down through history undimmed by corrupt leaders espousing hatred and racism. What we really need in our country are true leaders willing to work for justice rather than enriching themselves and toeing the party line.

stand up and speak out

thank you Will...Lets try this..... William Faulkner

I’ve spent the majority of my life working to end hunger. I know from personal experience that by working together we can change the world. It starts with speaking up for those who cannot be heard and standing up for those who cannot be seen.

Faulkner says it far better than I can. Read his quote again. But,  achieving a world of peace and justice, a world where honesty, truth and compassion holds sway, is possible. We can achieve a world where caring trumps greed, lying, and hatred.

I want that world. Let’s stand up and speak out, and let us not be afraid to continue speaking out until we transform our world into a place where love truly trumps fear and hatred.

he works hard…really hard

Being the leader of the free world is a hard job. We all know that. No one can deny that a day or two off occasionally is both good and necessary.

But, most of us would also agree that there are limits. Spending half your time at one of your own resorts, especially on taxpayer dollars, seems a bit excessive. Personally, I do not like paying the salary of an incompetent, racist liar, especially when he spends over half his time vacationing at my expense.

Maybe the #BLOTUS should just retire before justice catches up to him. I do not know of any federal prisons with golf courses…or tanning beds.

#BLOTUS: a well-marked prince

...and he's only a snake oil salesman at that, so what are we waiting for??

As Mueller’s investigation draws ever closer to the #BLOTUS, these powerful words from our Declaration of Independence ring more true than ever before. The majority of the thinking world understands that the man is unfit for any role in civil society, much less  being the ruler of the United States.

The sooner #BLOTUS is legally removed from office, the sooner we can begin rebuilding our nation’s reputation again. I know what I would like for Christmas, and since I am not picky, I have two options. Impeachment proceedings is my first choice. My second is a letter of resignation.

The criminal trial and conviction for treason would just be a big bonus, as well as a salute to justice.

a Veterans Day Prayer

God of peace, we pray for those who have served our nation
and have laid down their lives to protect and defend our freedom.

We pray for those who have fought, whose spirits and bodies are scarred by war,
whose nights are haunted by memories too painful for the light of day.

We pray for those who serve us now, especially for those in harm’s way.
Shield them from danger and bring them home.

Turn the hearts and minds of our leaders and our enemies
to the work of justice and a harvest of peace.
Spare the poor, Lord, spare the poor!

May the peace you left us, the peace you gave us,
be the peace that sustains, the peace that saves us.

Christ Jesus, hear us! Lord Jesus, hear our prayer!

Amen.
