#NoOneAboveTheLaw

I find it difficult to understand how our current president can so brazenly disregard the law. His actions continue to mock our entire justice system as he ignores any law with which he doesn’t agree. It must be nice to act like a dictator, and get away with it.

lest we forget

This is an deeply dangerous and intensely ugly time in the history of our nation. It is not a time for business as usual, or waving your political party’s colors. All of us need to come to the defense of our nation and get to the bottom of these issues.

When the leader of the free world whores himself and pimps the United States to pay off  his outstanding loans, it is time to take action to restore a semblance of decency to our country and democracy. It is perfectly fine for the #BLOTUS to get in bed with Putin and his pals. But, he is selling, or has already sold our country to cover his debts.

Today is  Memorial Day, I, for one, remember the sacrifices of those that fought and gave their all to protect what the #BLOTUS is now giving to our enemies. It’s a disgrace. It’s dangerous. And it has to be stopped.

no deals on the Day of Judgement

Kudos to the Dayton Daily News for Mr. Peters’ excellent cartoon of the #BLOTUS meeting with Pope Francis. The expression on the Pope’s face is an example of exceptionally true-to-life realism.

I admire Pope Francis as a authentic spiritual leader. He teaches and guides by example as did the man from Nazareth I attempt to follow. A good example is his gifting a copy of his letter on climate change to the #BLOTUS during their recent visit. (If only the President could read…)

What caught my attention, however, was the Pope’s expression during the visit. Normally smiling and laughing, the Pope just could not hide look of distaste (dare I say, disgust) during his time with the first family.

His true feelings for the President of the United States were plain for all to see. But, on the bright side, he didn’t openly laugh at the man as did several of the world leaders gathered at the NATO Summit.

The #BLOTUS might have written The Art of the Deal, but there’s no deals going to be made on the Day of Judgement. Maybe that will bring a smile to the Pope’s face. It certainly brings one to mine.

a circus has to have monkeys

Machiavelli lived in the 15th century, but his methodology for determining the intelligence of a ruler is still valid today. Looking at the sycophants and henchmen around the #BLOTUS tells us a lot, not only concerning his intelligence, but his vision for our country.

The most frightening fact is that this incompetent whiner has intentionally surrounded himself with those whose vision for destroying democracy perfectly coincides with his. From Jeff Sessions to Betsy DeVos, his Cabinet is filled with those antagonistic to the very departments they supposedly lead.

The only picks that actually support the work of their department are those of the Department of Defense and other military postings. But then, this makes sense as all dictators want the strongest military they can afford. That’s what keeps them in power.

#BLOTUS cannot compromise. He cannot negotiate. He cannot get legislation passed. Actually, he would be happy to rule by divine decree.

The question I have, and that is rightfully being raised by many others, is where will the fascination and admiration that #BLOTUS has of the world’s worst dictators lead us? His desire to be a brutal strongman is obvious.  Is his vision for the US to transform our democracy into a Trumptatorship?

The very real and very frightening reality here is that this is our circus, and these are all our monkeys.

let’s not pretend…

Oops too late (Post-Election Poll Jump For trump - 54% of Americans think trump will succeed as president, and trump gets all-time high likability rating of 47%, up about ten points from pre-election . What's the matter with America????):

A follow-up to yesterday’s post, this powerfully direct statement by Eugene Robinson is a plea for all of us to stand up to the intentional destruction of common decency that the election of the #BLOTUS represents. The open misogyny, ugliness, and vindictive behavior of those in power should  never be normalized.

No person, especially the President of the United States, deserves respect when basic human decency seems to be a foreign concept to them. Leadership requires far more than wealth and power.

When children act inappropriately we are quick to teach them how to behave properly. Isn’t it time we do the same with the leader of the free world?

SNAFU

I served 4 years (1966-1970) in the Marine Corps. While in the Marines I learned a phrase that has stuck with me. Actually, I think all veterans are familiar with it as the phrase is common in all branches of the military.

The phrase is SNAFU. It is an acronym for Situation Normal All F&%#ed Up.

This is where our nation is headed under the #BLOTUS. We are heading for a huge and historically ugly SNAFU. And I, for one, don’t want this period to be normal for the United States. I don’t want my country to be characterized by the arrogance, greed, and pathological lying of one man.

We cannot allow this administration to be normalized. It isn’t who we are. And I hope it isn’t who we want to become.

the government we deserve

One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors.:

Close to 50% of citizens refused to participate in the last election for the President of the United States. That is their right. But the cost, ever more apparent to the entire world, is not only painful, it is far more damaging than we can imagine.

Our right as citizens is one of the greatest gifts we have been given. To choose not to exercise our right to vote is the ultimate disrespect all of those whose sacrifices have given it to us. Choosing to not participate, even at the most basic level, in politics is what guarantees that we have the government we deserve.
