Which is greater: Trump’s ignorance? His lying? or his insatiable and insidious greed?
These words by Orwell are worthy a thoughtful discussion. They certainly seem to hold true, at least in my lifetime.
What do you, my readers, think? Are there wars we have entered since WWII where this premise doesn’t hold up?
Maybe this should be the test of tax reform as well…just a thought. From all I’ve seen, the Republican Tax Bill does just the opposite.
We really don’t need to”help” our already profitable corporations and the wealthiest of the wealthy in our country. This tax plan doesn’t move us forward as a nation. It rewards the rich and ignores those needing help the most.
The Republican tax plan doesn’t make our country great, and it has nothing to do with progress. It is simply another demonstration of those in power paying back their wealthy backers. It is shameful at best, and morally repugnant to the core.
I find it difficult to understand how our current president can so brazenly disregard the law. His actions continue to mock our entire justice system as he ignores any law with which he doesn’t agree. It must be nice to act like a dictator, and get away with it.
We all know that climate change cannot be real, right? It’s all just another scare tactic cooked up by progressives to keep honest business folks from making a decent profit.
And doesn’t the “good book” tell us that God created MAN to have control over the earth? That means (according to the #BLOTUS), that we can grab whatever we want. Finally, we finally have a leader who can demonstrate the good life.
What would our world look like if more of us had the special kind of courage lifted up by Queen Elizabeth? My fear is that far too many of us refuse to stand up for our convictions. We refuse to speak out for what we know is right, for what we know is the decent alternative.
We make the choice to be quiet, to remain silent in the face of immorality and evil. We allow those with power and riches to make choices and take actions that cause harm to millions of our human family and to rape our planet for greed and profit.
That could change if we had the special kind of courage spoken of by the queen. If we all stood up and made our voices heard we could have a world with justice for all and not just for the rich and powerful. But, that takes a special kind of courage.
