thinking of freedom

4th of july quotes

I am celebrating the Fourth this year while in London. I’ve been away from the US a number of times on the Fourth of July, and I am always struck by the influence our independence and love of freedom has made on the rest of the world.

This year, however, I think it is a good day to ponder how we are now squandering the sacrifices of so many who gave their all that we could be an example of all that is good and right. I truly love my country. Yet, I have never feared for her as I do today. We stand by in abject silence as the true values of our great nation are being extinguished one by one.

lest we forget

This is an deeply dangerous and intensely ugly time in the history of our nation. It is not a time for business as usual, or waving your political party’s colors. All of us need to come to the defense of our nation and get to the bottom of these issues.

When the leader of the free world whores himself and pimps the United States to pay off  his outstanding loans, it is time to take action to restore a semblance of decency to our country and democracy. It is perfectly fine for the #BLOTUS to get in bed with Putin and his pals. But, he is selling, or has already sold our country to cover his debts.

Today is ┬áMemorial Day, I, for one, remember the sacrifices of those that fought and gave their all to protect what the #BLOTUS is now giving to our enemies. It’s a disgrace. It’s dangerous. And it has to be stopped.

the government we deserve

One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors.:

Close to 50% of citizens refused to participate in the last election for the President of the United States. That is their right. But the cost, ever more apparent to the entire world, is not only painful, it is far more damaging than we can imagine.

Our right as citizens is one of the greatest gifts we have been given. To choose not to exercise our right to vote is the ultimate disrespect all of those whose sacrifices have given it to us. Choosing to not participate, even at the most basic level, in politics is what guarantees that we have the government we deserve.

the wages of sin

I have blogged about the 7 deadly sins before. However, I felt the time was right for a gentle reminder.

These words of Gandhi are especially meaningful at this point in our country’s history. We are fully embracing and living out all 7 of these deadly sins, and there’s a terrible price to be paid.

The consequences for our nation are already being felt, and they will only get worse. We continue to create a dark future for ourselves and our children. And the price grows ever higher.

The wages of sin don’t go down…and there’s no defaulting on the payments.

I would rather be faithful

.:

Success is not difficult. Good goals, solid discipline, hard work and persistence will most always get you there.

Being faithful is an entirely different matter. Faithfulness requires a singleness of heart embodied in a lifestyle of love, obedience and sacrifice.
