history’s simple test

Yup.

Donald Trump’s actions, and the attitudes behind them, are not normal for a leader of the free world. We all know that.

To remain silent in the face of such blatant lying, constant bullying, and morally disgusting racism is the same class of cowardice that allowed Adolf Hitler to come into power. The issue is not about party politics. It is far larger and far more consequential.

The issue is about basic human decency. The issue is about moral integrity. Are we going to allow such radical hate to continue destroying what our nation has always represented, or are we going to stand up and speak out in resistance to the clear destruction of our values?

As Mr. Rather states, history will judge us. The test is not difficult, but it requires us to act now. I have already answered. I will not be silent and I will not be complicit. I will resist. What about you?

GOP tax plan: test failed

Was just talking about the difference between the Roosevelts and people like William Randolph Hearst. The Roosevelts used their wealth to make the world a better place, as opposed to building a big mansion and filling it with European art.

Maybe this should be the test of tax reform as well…just a thought. From all I’ve seen, the Republican Tax Bill does just the opposite.

We really don’t need to”help” our already profitable corporations and the wealthiest of the wealthy in our country. This tax plan doesn’t move us forward as a nation. It rewards the rich and ignores those needing help the most.

The Republican tax plan doesn’t make our country great, and it has nothing to do with progress. It is simply another demonstration of those in power paying back their wealthy backers. It is shameful at best, and morally repugnant to the core.

in the evening of our lives

In the evening of our lives we shall be examined in love. — Saint John of the Cross

And so it shall be. Jesus made it abundantly clear that our professions of faithfulness, our 25 year perfect attendance pins, and out citizen-of-the-year awards mean nothing.

The examination is an open-book, take-home. It’s a single question, pass/fail. There’s one correct answer, and we’ve written it down before the examination even begins.

Do we reflect God’s love to all those most in need? Our answer is either yes or it’s no. We are answering the question every day by the way we live.

In the evening of our lives it’s too late for a do-over. Now is the time for us to love the least of these among us.

Oh, and before I forget, this is an entrance exam.
