Here is another small illustration of the difference a year makes. The world’s confidence of our nation’s leadership and our doing the right thing just continues to plummet as the world realizes we now have a lying, egotistical clown in our highest position of power.
This is an deeply dangerous and intensely ugly time in the history of our nation. It is not a time for business as usual, or waving your political party’s colors. All of us need to come to the defense of our nation and get to the bottom of these issues.
When the leader of the free world whores himself and pimps the United States to pay off his outstanding loans, it is time to take action to restore a semblance of decency to our country and democracy. It is perfectly fine for the #BLOTUS to get in bed with Putin and his pals. But, he is selling, or has already sold our country to cover his debts.
Today is Memorial Day, I, for one, remember the sacrifices of those that fought and gave their all to protect what the #BLOTUS is now giving to our enemies. It’s a disgrace. It’s dangerous. And it has to be stopped.
The Scripture tells us that our safety does not come from military power. The Old Testament is full of the prophets telling the people not to trust the weapons of war to protect them. There’s a clear message that hoping to find security through the military is a dangerous and false hope.
The Bible tells the people of faith that “our hope is in the name of our Lord, who made both heaven and earth.” It’s a message we desperately need to hear and to heed today.
We have the largest military budget the world has ever seen. No other country, no other 12 countries, spend as much on national defense as the United States. This is not just wrong. In a world where we have 20,000 of our human family dying daily from hunger and malnutrition, spending this amount on military defense is both abhorrent and morally repugnant.
We can end hunger in the next 15 years according to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. But we will never do it wasting hundreds of billions of dollars on wasteful, unnecessary, and sinful military spending. It’s time to trust in the Lord.
Thank you, Sally Yates for doing the right thing in the right way at the right time. All patriotic citizens of the United States owe you a debt of gratitude.
You took immediate action to uphold the traditional values of the United States. Your action in defiance of #BLOTUS was a true demonstration of faithfully defending equality and freedom. I applaud your strength of character, and commend you for defending the Constitution.
May we all be inspired by this courageous lady who has acted in the best tradition of our nation. And may we all follow her example in standing up against the unbridled bigotry and continuing attacks against our Constitution. United we stand.
The following article is from GLOBAL CITIZEN. It is a call to action, asking for the signing of a letter to the President to reverse his executive order for extreme vetting. This is a simple way to take immediate action that reflects the moral values we hold as people of faith.
Reverse President Trump’s Executive Order to Ban Refugees
The United States has just slammed its doors on the world’s most vulnerable.
On January 27th, President Donald Trump signed an executive order, implementing extreme vetting of refugees who enter the country.
It suspends the entire US refugee program for 120 days as new “extreme vetting” rules are developed, even though America already has the toughest vetting program for refugees in the world.
It halves America’s refugee intake to a maximum of 50,000 annually, with a complete ban on admitting refugees from war-torn Syria.
It stops seven predominantly Muslim nationalities – Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen – from even visiting America. This includes dual-nationals, green card holders, and most visa-holders.
As Global Citizens, we know that opposing viewpoints are a vital part of any robust political discussion. We work with all sides of politics to ensure that governments continue play a leading role in ending extreme poverty.
However, there are basic values that weave the fabric of the American Democracy – like not discriminating on the basis of religion and nationality.
This policy crosses that line.
Refugees are the most vulnerable fellow citizens on our planet, fleeing unimaginable horrors of conflict, persecution and disaster.
These are fathers, mothers, sons, and daughters.
We, as global citizens, stand proudly as supporters of refugee communities and vulnerable populations, regardless of religion or national origin.
We must call President Trump out on his actions and ensure that refugees can have place to call home.
When I was younger I swore an oath to defend the United States, even giving my life if necessary to protect our freedoms and way of life. I have never rescinded that pledge. I am a patriot, and I respect the office of the President as the highest office in our country.
But, President Roosevelt was right. Being a patriot doesn’t mean one has to stand by a president who cannot tell the truth and whose ego is so warped that he is obsessed with his small hands, his small crowds, and his tiny margin of victory.
I do not want a reality show, ratings-driven egomaniac with his finger on the button. I want a a leader worthy of this nation. If BLOTUS truly represents the values we hold as a nation, I, for one, have to reconsider what it means to be a patriot.
The President-Elect is seemingly ignorant that there is a record of his statements. His disdain for facts and the truth appears to be pathological. It is not difficult to understand why he is being called BLOTUS.
