This is our Christian President…really? It’s a beautiful church with no name. But, actually Easter is a time for families, get-together and golfing…the perfect Christian description of the holiest and most sacred day of the liturgical year.
Now I understand why the white Evangelicals adore this man. He is the perfect embodiment of their values. He knows almost as much about discipleship as he does about governing.
After watching the entire speech of France’s President to Congress I once again realized what a true world leader sounds like. Such a leader points the way to a better and brighter future for the entire world, sharing a vision of hope and promise.
One day I pray we will again have such leaders in our country.
Never have we needed the American people to stand up for the rule of law more than at this time in our history. We must lift up the Constitution.
We must not be afraid to speak the truth when we see it. We can not afford to turn a blind eye to the dismantling of the values in which we have always believed.
When a sitting president takes the side of the enemy of the United States over his own intelligence services, that is treasonous. When that president refuses to enforce sanctions that Congress overwhelmingly passed against that enemy, that is treasonous.
When a president refuses to defend our country, he is not only derelict in his duty, he is a traitor that should be immediately removed from the office he daily dishonors.
When I was nineteen I took an oath to defend my country against all enemies, both foreign and domestic. That oath didn’t have a time limit. Trump needs to be impeached.
This is where I stand. What about you?
Donald Trump’s actions, and the attitudes behind them, are not normal for a leader of the free world. We all know that.
To remain silent in the face of such blatant lying, constant bullying, and morally disgusting racism is the same class of cowardice that allowed Adolf Hitler to come into power. The issue is not about party politics. It is far larger and far more consequential.
The issue is about basic human decency. The issue is about moral integrity. Are we going to allow such radical hate to continue destroying what our nation has always represented, or are we going to stand up and speak out in resistance to the clear destruction of our values?
As Mr. Rather states, history will judge us. The test is not difficult, but it requires us to act now. I have already answered. I will not be silent and I will not be complicit. I will resist. What about you?
Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, a co-author of the Federalist Papers — and an immigrant himself — argued that “high crimes and misdemeanors” could be defined as “abuse or violation of some public trust.” This president has clearly already exceeded these standards. Congress has impeached past presidents for far less.

Congratulations to Doug Jones the new US Senator from Alabama! Congratulations to the people of Alabama! Congratulations the people of the United States!
Decency won big! Democrats won big! The Senate won Big! The people of the United States won big!
And the world watched as the people of Alabama said, “ENOUGH!” The win for Doug Jones is a statement that even in the one of the deepest red states in our nation there is a growing desire to return to common sense, common decency and common values.
Thank you to all who stood up, spoke out, and most especially, all those who exercised their right to vote. Citizenship is alive and well.
